Pennsylvania photographer Robert Bush Sr. caught quite an amusing parade of animals crossing a local log bridge. He set up a hidden camera and managed to film geese, black bears, bobcats, ducks, deer, squirrels and many other species as they crossed the bridge across a stream. Robert’s video shows animals that crossed the bridge over the course of one year. This is a natural habitat of all these species, and it’s fascinating just how many of them there are....

Along with online shopping getting more popular than ever, it seems that online scammers are also getting more widespread. Photographer Scott Kelby nearly had his $1,450 Canon EOS-R stolen due to an online scam. So, he shared his story as a cautionary tale to help you avoid these kinds of frauds. The story begins when Scott listed his EOS R on eBay with the “Buy It Now” choice available. Within a few days, he has a buyer who paid in full....

Smartphone processor manufacturer Qualcomm has teamed up with leading smartphone CMOS sensor maker Sony Semiconductor to provide better integration between their two systems for future smartphone development. And this isn’t just an on-paper partnership, they’ve actually moved teams into the same building to work alongside each other for future smartphone development. While there aren’t a lot of public details out there regarding the partnership yet, Sony is moving a team into Qualcomm’s San Diego headquarters....

Sometimes you need fancy equipment to create a great photo, and sometimes you just need a towel. In the video above, photographer Robert Harris shoots a female boxer using an interesting trait of light. The way that light wraps about objects. Robert uses an AD360 and an octabox and places the model in front of the light. Now, here is the interesting thing. Instead of letting the entire bulk of the light hit his model, Robert covers some of the light with a towel (I think its a towel)....

In some parts of the world, gunshots are heard more often than in others. Sometimes in places where one shouldn’t be hearing gunshots. Places where response teams need to act fast to catch the person firing them. A team of researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a system that can use smartphone video to locate the source of gunshots using machine learning. The system is known as Video Event Reconstruction and Analysis (VERA) and can work with as little as three videos to accurately locate the position of a shooter....

Wrapping cables is probably the biggest pain in the backside of any kind of shoot that requires them. For photographers, that often means strobe power cables or maybe sync cords if you’re not using wireless triggers. For filmmakers you’ve got power cords, audio cords, HDMI cables, and all kinds of things. Often, we just use gaffer tape, which ends up getting thrown away and replaced on every job. Or, perhaps, we use velcro, which still needs to be replaced regularly as they usually get lost....

Samyang has today announced a new set of Xeen Meister cine lenses. The new collection is kicking off with three lenses at 35mm, 50mm and 85mm focal lengths, all with a maximum transmission of T1.3. Samyang has added an 8th lens to their autofocus lens range for Sony FE mount. The new ultrawide Samyang 18mm F2.8 FE is a lightweight and super wide-angle lens that covers the entire sensor of Sony’s range of full-frame mirrorless cameras. Shortly after introducing its own text-to-video AI, Google introduced another AI-powered video tool -and it’s pretty darn awesome! Google’s new program InfiniteNature-Zero lets you “fly into” a landscape scene, similar to what we often see in drone landscape videos. Sigma has today announced their expansion into another new mount with their first native autofocus lenses for Fujifilm’s X Mount system. They’ve kicked off the range with the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN, 30mm f/1.4 DC DN and 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lenses, a versatile trio for APS-C cameras that covers everything from landscapes to portraits. With the 1.5x crop of the Fuji X system, these offer a similar field of view to 24mm, 45mm and 84mm focal lengths on full-frame with a wide and bright f/1....

During today’s live stream event, Sigma has announced their new Sigma 20mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary series lens for Leica L and Sony E mount. It joins the Sigma 24mm f/2, 24mm f/3.5, 35mm f/2, 45mm f/2.8, 65mm f/2 and 90mm g/2.8 DG DN Contemporary series lens lineup. Sigma says their goal was to create a “palm-sized large-aperture ultra-wide-angle lens” for landscapes, street photography, or whoever else you might want to use a full-frame 20mm lens....
