Coronavirus Outbreak Could Affect Image Sensor And Electronics Business Enormously Says Sony

Sony has spoken up on the coronavirus outbreak in China and the effects it may have on its image sensor and other operations. The Nikkei reports that despite initially raising its operating profit and revenue forecasts for the current fiscal year, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki said the coronavirus “may negate our revised earnings outlook”. The issue largely seems to refer to Sony’s smartphone sensors, rather than camera sensors. Despite Sony being based in Japan, smartphones themselves are often assembled in China....

Create A Fine Art Hdr Sea Scape From Start To Finish

Piers and jetties make wonderful subjects for long-exposure photography. It’s something about the lines leading you through the image and the perspective, combined with the poetic nature of an open body of water. But they aren’t always easy to shoot correctly, and sometimes you’ll need to shoot multiple exposures to get the result just right. In this video, Gary Gough walks us through a shoot in Hartlepool, UK of the dilapidated skeleton of an old pier....

Culling Photos Choosing Your Best Photos

This post will probably sound harsh to some but it’s needed as street photography has a problem. It may be because of a so-called renaissance in street photography in the past few years or just the fact it’s become fashionable but the sheer number of terrible photos is quite impressive. It’s bad and the reason is often because people aren’t stringent enough when culling photos (choosing your best photos), too hastily posting online....

Do You Really Need To Have Goals In Your Photography

One question I’ve been wondering to myself is this: is it better to have plans and goals in our photography, or to have none? Should we just harness our spontaneity in the streets when making images, or have some concrete plan? Should we plan for the future? Should we expect things to go to plan? Should we have goals in our photography and life? I think in a very basic sense, it is good to have some sort of direction....

Faa Doesn T Require Registration Of Personal Drones Anymore

This Friday, federal appeals court in Washington D.C. decided that Federal Aviation Administration has no right to require hobbyists to register their camera drones and model aircraft. As SF Gate reports, this decision came after a drone hobbyist John Taylor filed a claim against the FAA in 2016. He claimed that they don’t have the right to force him to register his aircraft. As U.S. Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh states, “Taylor does not think that the FAA had the statutory authority to issue the registration rule and require him to register....
