Nowadays, we’re able to share photos in a matter of seconds, and we often take it for granted. But did you know what it was like 20 years ago? This is when Philippe Kahn took the first cellphone photo ever and shared it with others online. It’s interesting that the birth of a camera phone came with the birth of Kahn’s daughter Sophie. He photographed her first moments and shared the image with 2000 people, and Conscious Minds share the story behind his game-changing project....

It seems that every time a new super high-resolution camera is released, one of the first samples we see of it in use is a timelapse. And the Fuji GFX100 announced a few days ago certainly qualifies under that “super high-resolution” qualifier. So, here’s the obligatory timelapse, and it’s an absolute beauty. The timelapse, titled Hermes, was created by Emmy-nominated timelapse photographer Beno Saradzic to test out the capabilities of a prototype of the new camera and see what it can really do....

The Norwegian forest cat, Pepper, and his two “siblings” have grown a very decent following on Instagram. It was in 2018 that Camilla and her boyfriend, Sondre, saw the charming kitten online. They couldn’t resist the long-haired charming Pepper. The couple named him after one of their favorite bands, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Both Camilla and Sondre have daytime jobs. Noticing that Pepper was bored when he was left alone at home, they brought a second cat to the household....

Step aside, Nikon P1000, the new king of zoom is here. It’s an electronic microscope, though, but it can zoom in 100 million times and still keep the subject clear. It’s so impressive, in fact, that it earned a spot in the Guinness World Records. Although electron microscopes allow scientists to see individual atoms, zooming all that far will not result in a sufficiently clear image. It’s due to the aberrations in the lenses which are corrected with special aberration correctors....

A few days ago, we had the chance to observe this year’s first “Blood Moon.” It’s the total lunar eclipse that makes the moon appear red, hence the scary name of the phenomenon. But other than red, our moon can appear to have many different colors. In a stunning composite image, Italian teacher and photographer Marcella Giulia Pace brought all colors of the moon together. From the usual greyish tones, all the way to yellow, deep red, blue, and even purple....

ASUS is going all out on mobile content creation lately. After their recent announcement of the very creator-focused ZenFone 6, they have today followed it up by announcing the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo. The latest model in their ZenBook Pro lineup, boasts a pair of 4K displays, an i9 processor, up to 32GB RAM and an Nvidia RTX2060 GPU. While it does technically have two 4K displays, one is the more traditional 16:9 we’ve come to expect, the other, is a 32:9 display offering 3840×1100 resolution....

It looks like the coronavirus concerns and lockdown aren’t enough to stop Instagrammers from getting their likes. Because of this, “Blue Lagoon” out of Buxton, UK recently became black. The former limestone quarry remained a popular picture-perfect place even during the lockdown, so the police dyed it black to stop the people from visiting it. Funnily enough, it’s not even the first time. “Yesterday we received reports that people were congregating at the ‘Blue Lagoon’ in Harpur Hill, Buxton,” the Buxton police wrote in a Facebook statement....

Despite the introduction of the full-frame EOS R and EOS RP cameras, Canon isn’t giving up on its APS-C line of EOS M bodies, as evidenced by the release of the EOS M6 Mark II and the EOS M200. Rumour has it, though, that there are a couple of new ones expected to be released during 2020. At this early stage, the specs need to be taken with a grain of salt, but one is suggested to be a Mark II successor to the EOS M50 (or perhaps a new M60), while the name of the other is currently unknown....

Adapters that let you mount a lens from one camera system to a body of another are nothing new. Even so-called “Speed boosters” which allow you to get much of the benefit of full frame lenses on crop bodies have been out for a while now. The new Magic Format Converter from Laowa, though, takes things in the opposite direction. Putting smaller format lenses onto larger format sensors. The adapter gives the ability to mount full frame Nikon and Canon lenses onto the Fuji GFX-50S medium format camera....

A few days ago we showed you a way to freeze subjects in ice in Photoshop. Now it’s time to freeze their motion in front of the camera, with the assistance of a little flash. And, of course, a little help from Jay P Morgan of The Slanted Lens. In this video, he shows us how we can freeze the motion of a dancer with strobes. The principle is quite simple, when your camera settings are killing all of the ambient light, your exposure is defined by your flash duration, not your shutter speed....
