Sigma Art For Sony E Vs Native Sony Lenses Which Perform Better

Earlier this year, Sigma announced nine Art lenses with native Sony E mount. Jason Vong tested three of them and compared them to native Sony counterparts in terms of sharpness, AF performance for photo and video, and form factor. Jason visited Anime Expo and shot some videos and stills in this lens shootout, testing the pairs of 35mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4, and 85mm f/1.4. Let’s see his impressions and whether or not Sigma Art lenses can outperform their Sony counterparts....

Sigma Registers A New Fp L L Mount Camera Body In Korea

Another one from Nokishita. It appears Sigma has registered a new Sigma fp L camera body in Korea. There’s no real information about it yet except for the fact that it’s been registered, although it appears that we might be able to expect another camera soon from Sigma. Perhaps as soon as the end of this month when CP+ (virtually) begins in Japan later this month. The Sigma fp, released in 2019, has been fairly well accepted (not adopted, but accepted), given the lack of any real customer base for Sigma outside of its lenses for non-L Mount cameras....

Signature Edits Is A Website With Free Raw Files For You To Practice Your Editing Skills

Back in 2017, a website popped up called WeSaturate. Its goal was to become sort of a “Pixabay for raw files” type library where people could share and download raw files to practice on. With many people unable to get out and shoot new stuff right now, it would be a valuable service if it still existed. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. WeSaturate closed down earlier this year. Inspired by WeSaturate and the valuable resource it was for him, Ryan Brietkreutz started up a similar service on Signature Edits....

Taking Sandpaper To M42 Lenses To Get That Anamorphic Look On The Cheap

Tito Ferradans here for a lengthy video involving some serious modding and unique looks. Summer is here and DIY projects are up. A few weeks ago I was blown away by a few photos posted by one Victor Danell with a modified Helios 44. His process was to “polish” the glass elements with a strong abrasive and sand the inside of the barrel in order to increase how light bounces around....

The Best Motorised Mini Slider We Ve Tried Diyp Reviews The Smartta Slidermini

Of all the tools and devices on which we can place cameras, sliders have always been the one that intrigued me the most. I’ve used quite a few of them over the years and I still really enjoy using them whenever I shoot with one. Especially motorised ones. I’ve even spent some time over the last few months working on motorising one of my own sliders. For the last couple of weeks, though, I’ve been trying out the new Smartta SliderMini....

The Best Wireless Mics For 200 Diyp Reviews Rode Wireless Go

I remember the first time I bought a wireless lav system. It was a lot of money, but I finally bit the bullet and bought my first wireless Sennheiser G2 system. There I was, $600 down, but as happy as a clam. At the time, you couldn’t get a (decent) wireless body-packs for less than $450. My eyes were always set on Sennheiser though. Fast-forward half a decade later, and we have a bunch of wireless options....

The Canon Eos 5Ds 5Ds R Dslrs Have Just Had An Insane 2 400 Price Drop

The two high-resolution 50-megapixel Canon DSLRs, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R are still very respectable cameras, despite having been released way back in early 2015. They weren’t cheap cameras, either, launching at $3,699 and $3,899. That regular retail price still stands today. Or at least, it did. Right now B&H is listing the EOS 5DS for $1,299 and the EOS 5DS R for $1,499. The only difference between the two cameras is that the 5DS R has “Low-Pass Filter Effect Cancellation”....

The Man From Another Dimension

A Discovery It was an early Tuesday morning, and I was sitting in a car with a friend of mine. We were going over some papers for a project I had in mind. While my friend had his eyes buried in the papers and text – mine started to wander outside. Leaning on the wall outside was a pretty big security guard, who was staring into the distance. Suddenly, out of nowhere a bunch of sparrows swarmed him, some landing on his head....

The Strobist Is Back With A Free Flash Lighting Course Focusing On Colour

David Hobby, aka “The Strobist“, was the original Internet trailblazer when it came to using small hotshoe flashes. At least, if you wanted to use them for more than just giving your subject red eye. Inspiring photographers to get their speedlights off the hotshoe, David created a free Lighting 101 course way back in 2006. I learned so much from that first course. So, when David released Lighting 102 the following year, I dived right in....
