The White House has released the official portraits of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. An interesting thing is that they were taken on a Sony A9 II, unlike portraits of two former presidents that were shot on Canon cameras. Also, these are the first Presidential portraits to be shot on a mirrorless camera. A woman recently got attacked by a bison at Custer State Park in South Dakota. Maybe you can already guess how the incident happened – she got too close to the animal because she wanted to take a photo. Fortunately, the woman didn’t suffer any life-threatening injuries. It’s pretty incredible: it was her pants that saved her life because they fell off. The incident happened last Wednesday within a group of motorcyclists who were in the Black Hills for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally....

Blackmagic Design launched the beta of DaVinci Resolve in April with a whole host of new and cool features. Now, the company has announced that it’s no longer in beta and has hit that finally stable version that makes it the latest official release. Amongst the standout features are full integration with the new Blackmagic Cloud, an improved proxy generator and built-in gyro stabilisation for footage shot with Pocket Cinema Cameras....

Hot on the heels of Sony, Canon has also declared that they have withdrawn from both NAB 2021 and InfoComm 2021 trade shots happening next month. In a statement to DIYPhotography, Canon states that this is due to “the ongoing health and safety concerns presented by the COVID-19 Delta variant”. NAB has been rescheduled from its usual date in April to October 9-13th at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, replacing the usual NAB New York shot at the Javits Center....

Canon has officially announced the latest addition to their mirrorless M series: Canon EOS M6. Sigma has announced its new 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras. Interestingly, it’s available in two mounts. Sony E and Leica L. Yes, that’s right, an APS-C f/2.8 zoom lens with an L mount. Blackmagic has announced that DaVinci Resolve 17, released just a couple of weeks ago, is now also available as an Apple M1 native application. As with the beta, the version built specifically for Apple Silicon is version 17.1. Final releases have been made for both the free and Studio version of DaVinci Reoslve and are available to download now from the Blackmagic website.
