The 85mm is the favorite lens of many portrait photographers. The 85mm f/1.2 RF was introduced last year, and it has become a choice of those who switched to Canon’s EOS R mirrorless system. But can it beat the good old EF version of the 85mm f/1.2? Chris and Jordan of DPReview were eager to find out, so they made a comparison test of the two versions of this lens....
According to Canon Rumors, Canon is going to release an EOS R5c cinema camera at some point this year. Don’t think of it like a traditional cinema camera, though. More like the Canon EOS R5‘s answer to Sony’s FX3 – which is essentially just an A7S III in a different shell and without a viewfinder. The EOS R5c is expected to be equipped with the same image sensor as the EOS R5 and offer all of the same recording options, including 8K raw video....
It might come as a surprise to some, but Canon Rumors says they’ve been told that there’s a Cinema EOS version of the Canon EOS R7 coming at some point. It will have the same naming convention as the Canon EOS R5 C – the cinema version of the Canon EOS R5 – and be called the Canon EOS R7 C. Don’t get too excited just yet, though. It’s not expected to be announced in 2022....
Last week, Canon released a new v1.2.0 firmware update for the Canon EOS R3, as well as updates for the EOS R5 and EOS R6 mirrorless cameras. The new EOS R3 firmware brought a bunch of new features to the camera including the ability to shoot full HD video at 240fps, enhancements to timelapse shooting along with a bunch of other stuff. A couple of days later, Canon pulled the new EOS R3 firmware as the result of a bug....
Canon has announced new v1.1.1 firmware updates for the EOS R5 and EOS R6 mirrorless cameras. The EOS R5 has already received one firmware update to help improve overheating issues and record times recently, and now it seems some of those improvements have come to the EOS R6 as well. The major firmware update for the EOS R6 includes a number of bug fixes and improvements, as well as the overheating issue, while the EOS R5 update is fairly minor, just resolving a couple of compatibility issues....
At just about every show I’ve been to for the last couple of years where Canon has been in attendance, they’ve been showing off some concept camera prototypes. We featured a couple of them last year during The Photography Show 2018 in the UK. And at CP+ 2019 in Japan a few months ago, they were showing off more. Now, Nikkan is reporting that three of these concept cameras will be released before the end of this year and suggested they are cameras we’ve seen before....

A photo of a crying two-year-old at the Mexican border became a symbol of the recent immigration crisis. However, it has now come to light that this girl was allegedly not separated from her mother. If you are unfamiliar with the light, it’s a tiny light (think GoPro session size), which has a very long throw and an incredibly bright beam. You can think about it as a mini flashlight. The cool thing though, is that it is daylight balanced and has a CRI of 90 (not as good as the “standard 95, but good enough for most still and video uses). So, there’s a weird new photo-sharing social media platform in town. Well, it’s kind of new. Dispo was founded in 2019 as “David’s Disposables” by YouTuber David Dobrik. But now it’s not just David’s, it’s everyone’s, and it’s just relaunched with a new invite-only beta. And yeah, it’s strange. It’s an (iPhone-only) app that turns your phone into a kind of disposable camera. You shoot photos with the app, it automatically applies a retro-looking filter and posts it to the app, but then you have to wait for it to “develop”....

DJI’s line of Ronin camera stabilisers, however, is very well regarded, and they work pretty flawlessly. DJI have announced that they’re going to be crippling drones pretty severely if they’re not registered with them. The changes come as part of new firmware updates for their drones.
