Want Your Photographic Gear Nicely Handled By Fedex Better Make A Big Media Splash

Not long ago, photographer Marc Weisberg shared with us a very unpleasant experience he had with FedEx. They failed to deliver the gear on time for his workshop, which cost him $1000. The article reached DIYP, as well as other blogs and social media pages. And eventually, FedEx made a response. Although this is an isolated case, the response is apologetic and sounds genuinely regretful. But if it weren’t for the huge social media buzz, who knows if it would end that way....

What Do You Do When Someone Travels Around The World To Copy You

Some cases of plagiarism are the usual copy-the-photo-and-present-as-their-own, but this one found by Pratik Naik and Bella Kotak just tops them all. At the base of the story are Lauren Bullen and Jack Morris two travel photographers and some of Instagram’s power couples, and Instagram’s favorite travel power couple with just over two million followers combined. Yesterday, Lauren shared one of the weirdest stories I’ve ever seen. An instagramer is not only following the couple, but copying their every photo, down to the smallest details, like wardrobe, hards, composition, even the food....

What Does It Take To Create A Stylized Image

One of the most important factors in a photographer/digital artists career is finding their own style. A signature look. It can take some photographers years to find theirs, but some find their voice straight away. I think I was lucky in that my style evolved quite quickly and quite organically. In this article, we will go through various elements I believe, contribute to what some people call a stylized image, but first, where does our style originate from....

What Is The Sunny 16 Rule And Does It Still Matter

Do people who take photos today still use the Sunny 16 Rule? Do they even know about the Sunny 16 Rule? I think it might be regarded as a little old-fashioned now. After all, it is firmly rooted in the days of film. If it isn’t being taught (and I’ve taken a quick flick through a selection of recently published photography basics books and can’t find a reference to it) that’s a shame, because I think it’s rather useful....

What The Heck That Spray Can In Lightroom Does

Have you ever used that little spray can icon in Lightroom? Have you ever even noticed it? I know I haven’t, and it turns out to be quite a useful tool. In this video, Anthony Morganti shows you what the Painter tool does and how you can use it to speed up your Lightroom workflow. I must admit that my first thought when I see a spray paint icon is the one in MS Paint, which I used to create my “artworks” when I was a child....

Why And How To Shoot Portraits In Bright Sunlight With Flash Using High Speed Sync

Light is vital to photography. Without it, we wouldn’t have photographs. Our sensors would just be recording blackness. Personally, I’ve always been a fan of making my own light. Mostly with flash, and mostly on location. This has meant that I’ve had to dip into the world of high speed sync a lot. But what is high speed sync? And why would you want to use it? In the latest Laws of Light video, Jay P Morgan answers those questions and more....

Why I Used One Camera One Lens One Film For Five Months

Photography is close to impossible to do without a camera, so why do so many of us both love and hate the equipment side of things? Will Traveling Make You A Better Photographer

When I was 20, I was dissatisfied with my photography. I felt like I was being limited by where I lived. I thought if I wanted to become a better street photographer, I needed to live in Europe — and photograph the romantic streets of Paris, the back-alleys of Prague, and the bustling streets of London. But the sad reality check was that after backpacking in Europe for a month, I didn’t become a better photographer....

Non-fungible tokens or NFTs still seem to be all the rage. It probably comes as no surprise that Meta wants to be a part of it, so from now on you can buy and sell NFTs on Instagram.
