Actually, for making them, since they will be composed out of individual selfies from different phones. Apple has filed a patent for an app that will allow everyone from the group to take a selfie they’re satisfied with, compose them into a single photo, and then add a background of choice. And if I may add – take “fake” to a whole new level....

A bunch of new gear announcements from Canon today. First up, the EOS M100 mirrorless camera with an APS-C sized 24.2MP sensor and EF-M lens mount. There’s three new tilt shift macro lenses at 50mm, 90mm and 135mm. A new MT-26EX-RT twin macro flash is also being launched along with the new glass. But the biggest piece of news is the long awaited 85mm f/1.4L IS USM. Many will see the 85mm f/1....

For several years Canon had a love hate relationship with mirrorless technology. They did not want to hurt their DSLR sales so they did not release anything good. On the other hand, they could not avoid the future. This led to the weird M line, which was better as an aesthetic piece than as a camera (especially competing with Fuji and Sony who have awesome mirrorless systems). This is changing today with the introduction of Canon’s EOS M5....

Canon has discontinued a bunch of DSLR lenses over the past year or so. And now, the company seems more determined than ever to switch to mirrorless and stay in that area. Judging from a recent report, the company has come down to only nine EF-mount lenses, which is certainly not great news for Canon DSLR users. Japanese photographer Kimio Tanaka recently tweeted two lists of Canon EF-mount lenses. The time difference between them is only a month: they show the lenses available in January and February 2022....

Canon isn’t a name we normally associate with drones, but a new drone gimbal camera patent suggests they might be starting to try to take on the consumer drone market. If they are planning to tackle the likes of DJI and Autel, Canon does have some experience with drones. This isn’t their first one, having released the PD6E2000-AW-CJ1 drone (doesn’t that name just roll right off the tongue?) back in 2017....

The mythical Canon EOS R5c is said to be a video-centric version of the Canon EOS R5. It’s supposed to come with active cooling and a slightly different form factor body, to eliminate the overheating issues that are just a fact of life with the EOS R5 if you want to shoot 8K (and even some 4K) video. Many thought that it would come at some point this year (possibly NAB in October), but now Canon Rumors is reporting that its announcement has been pushed back to Q1 of 2022....

2020 has just begun and it looks like it will be an exciting year when it comes to Canon cameras. According to the latest reports, Canon might introduce three new mirrorless cameras over the course of 2020. And what’s more, the first of them may come as soon as next month. According to Canon Watch, the first camera to be introduced is the Canon EOS Rs. It will be a high-resolution cousin of the EOS R, and it may be announced in February the current year....

We are all about Hallowe’en at DIYP, and to celebrate we wanted to share this incredible image of the Bat Nebula. It really does look a lot like a bat, flying through space surrounded by tiny stars. The image was captured by the RiDK 500 telescope at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile, and processed by Mark Hansen and Mike Selby. The Bat Nebula is located about 1400 light-years away in the constellation Ophiuchus....

Like most couples, Matthew and Jazmine Gallegos from Albuquerque hired a wedding photographer to preserve the memories of their big day. However, the couple claims that they were left without their photos, as the photographer disappeared from the internet and blocked them on social media. They are now speaking up to warn others of their bad experience.
